2010 Route [ru:t] I am a slow walker, but I never go backward. –Abraham Lincoln- Everyone even animals and plants are accustomed to new environments and new circumstances as time goes by. In order to understand and get used to a new environment one only needs time. Given that I have been living in America since 2005, I have become somewhat accustomed to the western way of life. Since I am from Korea, I consider America as my second home. In order to deal with these two different cultures I have to be willing to accept the cultural differences each one has. In the same way, while I was becoming accustomed to living in Baltimore, I felt like I wandered for a time. My emotions such as happiness, sadness, hope, and loneliness changed so many times. For this installation work, I want to present my journey of wandering in a new environment and the struggle to figure out my next step. I am in the constant process of figuring out my identity as a Korean living in America and also adjusting to life in a new environment. I want my work to illustrate that I am in time being transferred from one point to another.
